**************************** Porter Airlines welcomes Timmins to the family

Service begins January 16

TORONTO - Porter Airlines is introducing service between Timmins and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, beginning on January 16, 2012, with three daily roundtrip flights.

The new route continues Porter’s successful Northern Ontario expansion, which includes Thunder Bay, Sudbury and Sault Ste Marie service.

Offering a unique blend of speed, convenience and service, Porter has revolutionized short-haul air travel since its launch in 2006, rapidly becoming an industry leader and developing a loyal following among business and leisure travellers in each of its 16 markets.

“By launching service to Timmins, we’re providing more than just a premium travel experience and exceptional value,” said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines. “We’re also enhancing the competitive environment and offering travellers the kind of choice they deserve.”

“On behalf of mayor and council, I welcome Porter Airlines to the City of Timmins,” said Mayor Tom Laughren. “Your long history and reputation of service delivery will appeal to all travellers coming to or leaving Timmins. Today’s announcement will no doubt be well received by the residents and businesses of the City of Timmins and those of our neighbouring communities. We look forward to a long relationship and wish you success in the Timmins market.”

Connecting flights from Toronto City Airport also provide numerous travel options within Porter’s growing network, including Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Windsor, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, Halifax, St. John’s, New York, Boston, Chicago and seasonal service to Myrtle Beach and Mont Tremblant.

“The Timmins Airport has played a vital role in developing Northern Ontario dating back to the 1950s,” said Dave Dayment, airport manager at Timmins Victor M Power Airport. “It remains as one of the busiest regional airports in the North today. The arrival of Porter Airlines emphasizes our importance in this regard. We are most pleased that Porter has decided to include Timmins in its impressive list of destinations.”

Highlights of the new weekday schedule include:

Toronto City departure times: 08:35 15:55 21:40

Timmins departure times: 06:25 11:00 18:00

Weekend service includes one roundtrip on Saturdays and two Sunday options.
