NEWS RELEASE

SOO GREYHOUNDS

************************* Earlier today Soo Greyhound players Wayne Simmonds and Josh Godfrey were joined by two members of the 49th Field Regiment RCA Personnel in a showing of support for our troops over in Afghanistan.

Recently returned Bombardier Steve Rowley and Warrant Officer Stephen Leask were at the Steelback Centre this afternoon, where the Greyhounds made a presentation of two 2008 World Junior Hockey Championship signed photos along with a collection of Greyhound souvenirs.

The donated items will be sent through the Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency to be displayed in Canada House or another location in Kandahar Airfield where Canadian soldiers will have the opportunity to see them.

In addition, one of the world junior photos will be raffled off with the proceeds going to the Assistance to Afghanistan Trust Fund.

Those funds will then be used by the Canadian Provincial Reconstruction Team to purchase much-needed educational supplies for Afghan Children.
