************************* Assault on female lands man in jail
GOULAIS RIVER, ON - Sault Ste. Marie OPP have one man in police holding cells after a woman was assaulted last night with two different weapons.
Last night at about 9:30 p.m. police were called to a home off Anderson Road in Goulais River.
The investigation revealed that a verbal argument between and man and woman escalated into violence.
It is alleged that the man held the woman down on a bed by the throat for a short period of time.
As the woman attempted to flee the house she was assaulted in the neck with a fork and hit on the wrist with a baseball bat.
The woman was slightly injured but did not need medical attention.
As a result of this investigation OPP took a 40-year-old Goulais River man into custody.
He will be charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, unlawful confinement, and breach of a recognizance.
The man will make an appearance at WASH (Weekend and Statutory Holiday) Court this morning.
