************************* Male charged with shoplifting and assault offences

Thirty-one-year-old Richard Speers of 67 Palace Drive was arrested on the 10th of September at 3 p.m. at his residence and charged with one count of assault and one count of theft under $5,000 in relation to an [alleged]shoplifting incident that took place on the 2nd of August around 1 p.m. when it is alleged that the accused attended at Zellers in the Station Mall and stole a pair of sunglasses.

When he was confronted by the store security officer, the accused [allegedly] pushed the officer, threw the sunglasses to the ground and fled.

He is to appear in court on the 20th of October.
