Gore St fire considered suspicious

An investigator from the Ontario Fire Marshall's office arrived at 5:30 p.m. yesterday to probe what's being treated as a suspicious fire at 127 Gore Street in Sault Ste. Marie.

An investigator from the Ontario Fire Marshall's office arrived at 5:30 p.m. yesterday to probe what's being treated as a suspicious fire at 127 Gore Street in Sault Ste. Marie.

The site has been secured by City Police after extensive damage occurred to a one-room apartment occupied by the landlord, who is not believed to have been present when the fire occurred.

The flames got into the attic area of the building.

The fire started around 1:27 a.m. yesterday and fire trucks returned to the fire hall by 5:30 a.m.

No injuries were reported.
