Gonna lay down tracks. In the direction of that sugar shack

At 9 a.m. today, when they opened the Sugar Shack at the Sault Ste. Marie Region Conservation Authority offices on Fifth Line, people were already lining up outside the door.

The hotcakes were flying on and off the griddles in a continuous stream today.

One fellow even grabbed a couple of steaming flapjacks off the stack that Kiwanis President Coralee King is seen holding.

The popular Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast is continuing this weekend.

Kiwanis volunteers will be back on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to serve up pancakes and sausages with St. Joseph Island maple syrup.

And again on Saturday and Sunday next weekend.

"Easter Weekend is a phenomenal weekend," said Sue St. Jules, Kiwanis Sault Ste. Marie's past president and princess of pancakes. A lot of families come out for something special to do together, St. Jules tells SooToday.com

The pancake feeds are just $8 a plate for adults, $6 for seniors, $4 for children 6-12 and anyone under six is free.

All funds raised by the pancake breakfasts stay in the community to help local children.

Tickets for the upcoming RCMP Musical Ride are also available at the breakfast.

King said the June 14 event will cost $12 for advanced tickets and will include opportunities to meet and talk with musical ride participants, to participate in children's activities and to watch demonstrations by the RCMP and other police representatives.
