Gas line hit near Escanaba - highway closed

MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION

************************* A gas line along US-2 in Rapid River, east of the US-41 intersection, was struck by a contractor at about 10:30 a.m. today.

Truck traffic is being rerouted on Forest Highway 13, M-94 and down US-41, while passenger traffic is being rerouted on US-41, 38th Road, County Road 509 and County Road 448.

Estimated 2.5 hours to reopen.

Local and state police directing the detour.
