Funeral arrangements announced for Monsignor Burns

Sootoday.com has received the following notice today from O’Sullivan Donnelly Funeral Home regarding funeral arrangements for Monsignor Burns who became Pastor of Precious Blood Cathedral in 1985 and retired from active ministry on November 1 of this year.

Dear son of the late Alexander and Margaret Burns.

Beloved brother of Lucille (Flynn) Shangraw (Fred), late James (Lorna) and late Vincent (Regina).

Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Monsignor Burns was ordained to the priesthood in Kingston on May 1st, 1960 and was named a Monsignor in 2004.

He served in parishes in Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie.

He became Pastor of Precious Blood Cathedral on September 3rd, 1985 and retired from active ministry on November 1st of this year.

Monsignor Burns will be sadly missed by his many friends and the parishioners he so loyally served for so many years.

Friends may call at Precious Blood Cathedral on Tuesday, December 1 from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. (parish vigil at 7 p.m.) and on Wednesday, December 2 from 9:30 a.m. till 10:30 a.m.

Funeral mass at 11 a.m. with Most Rev. Jean-Louis Plouffe officiating.

Interment in the Priest’s Plot at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Donations to Precious Blood Memorial Fund would be appreciated.
