City Police are converged at this hour in a west-end neighbourhood after receiving a report that Paul Whalen (shown) was sighted there this morning.
Police advise that they're experiencing traffic-control problems in the area of the sighting and they've asked SooToday.com to request that you avoid using North Street in the St. Georges - Gore Sreet area.
The main police build-up is currently in the St. Andrew's Terrace area.
Whalen is wanted for one count of possession of stolen property, one count of careless use of a firearm, one count of possession for a purpose dangerous to the public, one count of pointing a firearm, one count of carrying a concealed weapons and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon.
The charges were laid after gunshots were fired on Boston Avenue last Wednesday, July 7.
A 23-year-old woman, known to Whalen, was found in the house.
She was treated at hospital for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Since issuing a "wanted" advisory for him on Friday night, police have received a number of calls regarding possible sightings.
"Investigators from the investigation services section are following up all leads," a police statement said today. If you see Whalen, police want you to avoid contact and to notify the City Police at 949-6300, or your nearest police service, or Crime Stoppers at 942-7867.
One year ago, Whalen was involved in a four-hour standoff at a house at the corner of Shafer and Swartz Street.
