Sault Ste. Marie's Arena Study Review Committee is preparing to cram into a couple of vans for a summer road trip.

A proposal to be presented to City Council Monday night will send at least 11 committee members and resource people on a whirlwind tour of facilities in Barrie, Mississauga, Sarnia and Plymouth, Michigan.

Estimated cost of the trip for committee chair James Caicco and members John Rowswell, Steve Butland and Lou Turco is $400 each.

Council will also be asked to appoint Ken Lajambe and Kevin Hodgson to a new arena fundraising subcommittee and to cover the cost of their hotel rooms and a per diem, as well as for Dr. Lou Lukenda.

Also confirmed for the trip is Mark Kontulainen, who represents the City's Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee on the arena committee.

Other participants are expected to include Commissioner of Community Services Nick Apostle, Community Centres and Marine Facilities Manager Norm Fera, and Director of Tourism Ian McMillan.
