If you enjoy demonstrating the throaty roar of your car or truck engine downtown, be aware that City Police are on your case.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service's new problem-oriented policing unit advises that it's now focussing on noise complaints from motor vehicles in the Bay Street and Queen Street areas.

The new unit also conducted RIDE checks throughout the city last week, resulting four charges of impaired driving and six 12-hour suspensions.

They're also conducting an enforcement blitz on speeding with 49 provincial offences notices issued last week for various traffic infractions.

"This week the unit will continue with traffic enforcement for speeders, intersection infractions and will be performing RIDE checks throughout the city," police say in a news release this morning.
