NEWS RELEASE - CITY OF SAULT STE. MARIE

************************** City announces new commissioner of engineering and planning

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON) The Corporation of the City of Sault Ste. Marie is pleased to announce the selection of Jerry Dolcetti as the new Commissioner of Engineering and Planning.

Shortly after Mel Brechin, the current Commissioner of Engineering and Planning, announced his intention to retire earlier this year, the City began its search for a suitable candidate to fill the vacancy.

The position was posted internally, inviting individuals who were professional planners, professional engineers, or business administrators with a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience, to apply.

After a number of applications were received and the selection process was carried out, Dolcetti was announced as the successful applicant.

Dolcetti, who will be taking over on May 3, 2004, was recognized for his broad managerial experience in the private sector, both as the President of the Sault Ste. Marie Airport Development Corporation and as a Regional Planner and Regional Manager at Proctor & Redfern, as well as for his planning experience, most recently as a Senior Planner with the City.

"We are confident that Mr. Dolcetti is the right choice for the position and know that he will be a great asset to the City in his new role," says Joe Fratesi, CAO of the Corporation of the City of Sault Ste. Marie.

"We would also like to take this time to recognize and thank Mr. Brechin for his 35 years of dedication and service to the City. We wish him the best in his retirement."
