Funeral arrangements for Dr. Hui Lee

Funeral services for Dr. Hui Lee will take place next Saturday at Central United Church in Sault Ste. Marie.

As SooToday.com reported yesterday, the well-known Group Health Centre internist collapsed after competing Friday night at the 2004 Ontario Masters Swimming Championship in Etobicoke.

He had just finished third and second in two blistering races in which the top finishers established new Canadian age-group records.

Dr. Lee gave generously of his time to help support aquatics in the Sault and it was at his urging that the local club succeeded in attracting the provincial masters championships here next year.

On Sunday, Dr. Lee's eldest son, Brian, swam in the Sault Ste. Marie Aquatic Club-Soo Y Dolphins meet, scoring two firsts and a third in pre-provincial competition.

"I was really proud of how our athletes rallied around Brian Lee and his family," said Rob Moreside, head coach of the Sault Ste. Marie Aquatic Club.

"It was heartening to see Brian swimming on Sunday. Our club will miss Hui greatly for his involvement and inspiration as a master swimmer," Moreside said.

At Toronto on Friday March 26, 2004 at the age of 39 years. Beloved husband of Dr. Anne Lee.

Dear father of; Brian Chun Yew, Steven Chun Ming and Erin Chun Sing. Dear son of David Ek Hua Lee and Elizabeth Eu See Lee.

Brother of; Joseph Lee (LuAnne Burnham), Chooi Lee (Mark Palmer) and Yen Lee (Kristina Klausen).

Son-in-law of Charles Douglass Fogerty and Ilene Fogerty. Brother-in-law of Jay Fogerty (Jane).

Fondly remembered by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews here and around the globe and his many colleagues in the medical profession here and across the continent.

Friends are invited to attend a funeral service at Central United Church (160 Spring St. Sault Ste. Marie) on Saturday April 3, 2004 at 1 p.m. with Reverend Betty Pretty officiating.
