Don Ferguson, events officer for the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce, and Tracy Latulippe, a habitat specialist for Ducks Unlimited Canada, were hamming it up this afternoon as a 30-foot inflatable duck went up at the front doors of this year's Great Outdoor Show & Sale.

The show will be opening tonight at 4:40 p.m. at the John Rhodes Community Centre and running throughout the weekend:

- Friday 4:40 p.m. to 9 p.m. - Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. - Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mayor John Rowswell will be officially opening the event with help from the Desbarats Courier Du Bois Club, who've received special permission from City Council to discharge their muskets to mark the occasion.

(Unlike most meetings of City Council, SooToday.com has received assurances that no broadsides will be fired in the direction of the Mayor or any other politician.) Merchandise from motorcycles to outboard motors will be offered for sale, as well as activities like paintball shooting and an interactive fishing game.

Admission is $3 and children under the age of 12 enter for free.
