Two 14-year-olds have been charged after a gun was pointed yesterday at students at St. Francis Elementary School at 147 Brookfield Avenue.

City police say one 14-year-old male was charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and with threatening.

A further 14-year-old, also male, was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.

Police were called at 12:30 p.m. yesterday after a student pulled out a gun in the school library, showed it to other students and then started to point it at them.

The weapon, described by police as a small "Saturday-night special" type of handgun, was seized by principal Mario Filice.

"No ammunition was seized with the gun," Police Chief Bob Davies said in a written statement.

The weapon is currently being checked to determine the calibre and whether it was capable of being fired.

Both accused have been released and will be in court on April 27. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
