A well-known Sault Ste. Marie man is expected to recover fully from serious injuries he received in a head-on crash that claimed one life in Greater Sudbury on Saturday.

Tulio Porco's injuries include several broken bones, Sault Star coverage notes.

As SooToday.com reported Saturday, the OPP's preliminary investigation indicates that an eastbound car crossed the centre line and collided with a westbound vehicle being driven by Porco, who is 56.

After the initial impact, a second westbound car was also struck.

A third westbound vehicle was unable to avoid the first collision and also collided.

The female driver of the eastbound vehicle died at the scene.

Five people were treated for injuries received and released.

The crash occurred on Hwy 17 west of Southview Drive.

Porco is involved in local hockey and in Laird International Raceway.
