As a volunteer-based organization, the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce pool of outstanding individuals who fall into this category is an enormous one.

All of the Chamber’s unsung heroes deserve thanks for the activities, events and programs undertaken to benefit the business community.

Initiated in 1985, the Volunteer of the Year Award is given annually to an individual whose time commitment and contributions to the Chamber over the years or during the past year have been outstanding.

We salute David Cook!

David Cook relocated to Sault Ste. Marie in 1991 and purchased the M & M Meat Shop locations on Black Road and Second Line W.

You will also recognize David Cook as co-owner of Algoma Adventures.

David is now retired and resides in beautiful St. Joseph Island. His valuable entrepreneurial skills do not go unnoticed!

He was recognized with the Chamber President’s Award in 1994 for his exceptional efforts in the business community.

David was also awarded in 1996 with the Chamber’s Customer Service Award for M & M Meat Shops setting the standard for customer service.

David remains active within the community in a number of capacities.

David has been serving as an active member of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors since 1992.

He serves as a member with our Great Outdoors Show Task Force and has recently been appointed Co-Chair to this group.

David is a certified Ontario SuperHost Leader.

David also serves as Co-Chair of the Chamber’s Education & Training Committee and is past Co-Chair of the Membership Retention & Development Committee.

Some of you will also know David as an active participant at the Chamber Take 5 and Golf After 5 events.

David is very involved in theatre and music.

Outgoing, talented, friendly, polite, and always ready to lend a hand when needed David represents the Chamber well at any events that he attends.

David, it’s almost impossible to find a way to thank you for the many ways that you have provided your assistance, other than to recognize you with this award as a token of our thanks.

Congratulations to David Cook our 2003 Volunteer of the Year.
