Initiated in 1982, the President’s Award recognizes someone who makes an exceptional effort, going above and beyond the call of duty in any area of business and community development.

Selected by the Past President, this award is not necessarily given annually.

Profile

We salute Gino Cavallo, Director of Communications and Public Relations with the Soo Greyhounds.

Gino Cavallo has been the "voice of the hounds" for the past 12 seasons.

In addition to serving as the team's broadcaster, Gino is responsible for all communications and for all media relations for the Soo Greyhounds.

Prior to joining the Soo Greyhounds, he worked in the broadcasting industry serving as News & Sports Director at Telemedia Radio in Sault Ste. Marie.

He has also worked for radio in London & Sarnia.

Gino currently serves as a member of the Municipal Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee.

Gino is always active in community service work and has served as a volunteer with many community groups and organizations such as the United Way, Rotary Easter Seals, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Air Canada Cup, the Sault Ste. Marie Hall of Fame and the Ontario Winter Games Committees.

He served as a hands on volunteer to host many successful golf tournaments such as the Ron Francis Tournament, Ted Nolan Tournament and the Marty Turco Tournament which continues today.

Gino has served as an active volunteer in many capacities with the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce since the 1980’s.

He was an active volunteer with the Chamber’s Tourism Committee.

From 1987 to 1990 he served as chair for the Chamber’s Sports Celebrity Dinner Task Force.

He currently serves as the Chairperson for the Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Committee and is instrumental with the ongoing success it is today!

Gino’s generous nature, sound advice, his upbeat thinking, his enthusiasm and his ongoing dedicated efforts are truly an inspiration to each and everyone he works with. Please join me in congratulating Gino Cavallo.
