The Athena Award is an internationally recognized award, presented to an individual who is recognized for their professional excellence, for providing valuable service to their community and for actively assisting women in attainment of their professional goals and leadership skills.

************************ We salute Marnie Stone, this year's recipient of the Athena Award.

Marnie is the 3rd generation owner of Stone Office Supply. In 1980, Stones’ joined Office Plus, a network and buying group of 50 plus independent office dealers.

A member of the Sault's Downtown Rotary, Marnie is a member of the organization's board.

She is also a past board member of the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce.

She has been an active fundraiser locally for ARCH and has been a strong supporter of community events such as Lobster Fest, 18 Forever and Dancing with the Sault Stars.

Marnie is a local business woman who also feels that there is a fantastic business climate in Sault Ste. Marie for business women and encourages them to get involved and to build a network with their fellow business women.

Marnie and Stone's Office Supply have been highly visible supporters of community arts and artists.

The store has regularly featured work by an artist of the month in its front window for the past 4 years.

Congratulations to Marnie Stone, on being named recipient of the 2009 Athena Award and for being an active leader and an example for women and for business people throughout our community.
