It's on! KISS Army vs. God! Saultmageddon!

The campaign to bring KISS to Sault Ste.
SusanMyers

The campaign to bring KISS to Sault Ste. Marie has moved into uncharted territory tonight, with Ward 2 Councillor Terry Sheehan mobilizing local KISS Army infantry to renew their demands for a concert at the Essar Centre, while his wardmate Councillor Susan Myers calls people of faith to pray to keep the band away.

"Keep praying that the Sault is not on the KISS tour," Myers (shown) said in a message e-mailed to her core political supporters today, including links to recent news coverage about the Sault's apparent exclusion from the band's fall 2009 tour.

Councillor Myers has been a stalwart opponent of "the hottest band in the world," telling SooToday.com earlier this year that she "would be sick at heart to see this kind of performance come to our city."

"Can we not offer our citizens something that is joyful and uplifting vs. sick and revolting?" she asks.

Councillor Sheehan, on the other hand, wants very much to bring KISS to the Sault.

He sent us this e-mail this afternoon:

*********************** Hi David: At first glance I was, of course, disappointed as Sault Ste. Marie placed third with over 11,000 votes in what KISS had called the "first-ever fan routed tour."

Our hopes of a concert were also lifted when Gene Simmons was quoted in an Ottawa paper saying that the top three finishers in the contest would definitely get a concert. I discussed this issue with staff earlier today and I am optimistic that the Sault still has a good chance of landing a concert in the future. However, optimistic I may be, I have still written a letter to Gene Simmons and KISS via their website reiterating all the great reasons to play the Sault.

I also included a copy of the council resolution passed earlier this year which encouraged KISS to play here in the Sault. David, in my opinion now is not the time to give up and surrender.

Now is the time for the KISS Army to regroup and make sure that Sault Ste. Marie is included in the second leg of the KISS tour by sending them a very positive shout-out on their website.
