SooToday.com's Carol Martin is beside the downed plane at this hour.
She tells us it's on the divided Highway 17A - the new bypass - just east of Belleau Lake Road at Syrette Lake Road, and it's going to be there for a while.
Martin says the westbound lane was closed at 10:05 a.m. while workers tried to place the downed aircraft on a flatbed truck to take it to the Sault Ste. Marie airport.
They couldn't get the plane on the flatbed and the highway re-opened around 10:30 a.m.
The plane is expected to be there for some time until workers figure out how to remove it.
The pilot has told SooToday.com that he made a forced landing and no one was hurt.
