Pool fatality victim identified

************************* Sudden death at John Rhodes Community Centre Pool Officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service are currently investigating a sudden death that occurred earlier today at the John Rhodes Community Centre Pool, 280 Elizabeth Street.

Emergency personnel responded to the pool area for an unresponsive child shortly after 2 p.m.

The child was transported to the Sault Area Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

The deceased has been identified as seven-year-old Darian Berg of Sault Ste. Marie

Officers from Investigation Services are currently working with the coroner's office on this investigation.

A post-mortem has been ordered for Wednesday July 23.

The John Rhodes Community Centre has been released back to City staff.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is asking any witnesses who were at the pool at the time of the incident to contact 949-6300.
