Donna Gregg, manager of Ontario Winter Carnival Bon Soo, was honoured last night with Tourism Sault Ste. Marie's first Customer Service award.

The award, sculpted by local artists Tim and Bonnie Barthelmes, recognizes Gtegg's work in contributing to the betterment of festival tourism experience for citizens and visitors to the Sault.

Our photograph shows Gregg accepting the award from Bill Durnford of Tourism Sault Ste. Marie at a special dinner dance at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre.

The following are Durnford's speaking notes:

**************************************************************** Customer Service Award - Donna Gregg

Arrived in Sault Ste. Marie in 1971.

While raising her kids. Donna spent considerable time volunteering for various local organizations.

For the past 18 years Donna has been involved with the Bon Soo Winter Carnival.

The first three years were spent as a director and then in 1989 she became the first women president, a position she held for three years.

In 1991, Donna was appointed to the newly created position of general manager of the Bon Soo Winter Carnival.

She has held this position for the past 12 years.

During this time Donna has become synonymous with Bon Soo.

Her commitment to the event is unquestioned and works very hard every year ensuring the continued commitment from sponsors and recruiting the numerous volunteers who contribute to the success of the carnival.

It is because of this commitment and the service she provides to the sponsors, volunteers as well as the local residents and visitors, and the fact that she has contributed to the Bon Soo Carnival becoming a significant component of our overall destination product, that Donna has been chosen as this year's recipient of the Customer Service Award.
