The Northern Michigan University College Republicans today released details of a planned visit to Marquette by Ann Coulter, the stiletto-sharp attorney, author and pitbull political commentator.

Coulter will speak there on Monday, April 14, from 7 to 10 p.m. at NMU's Vandement Arena.

Her speech will explore "Why liberals are wrong about everything."

The event is expected to include a question-and-answer session.

Coulter's speech, paid for with $23,000 from NMU's Student Finance Committee (SFC), has been greeted with outrage from some corners of the Upper Peninsula campus.

"The price of Coulter's speech represents about one-third of this semester's SFC budget, which is composed exclusively from the student activity fee," opined the NMU student newspaper The North Wind this week.

"In other words. Coulter is coming to NMU and the student body is picking up the tab....Coulter is sure to have a packed house in April. People will attend to hear her say outrageous things, and to become outraged themselves," the newspaper said in an editorial.
