The following was received today by our newsroom staff, who confess to feeling just a wee smidgeon of envy about Derek Nott's lifestyle:
****************************************************************** Happy Holidays Soo-ites.
I'm writing from the Cayman Islands, a small group of Caribbean islands located in the British West Indies.
I left the Sault in 1996 to pursue an education, and play a little football in the U.S.
After that, I landed in Windsor, where I finished my degree in Human Kinetics.
While in school I was running a pub and restaurant near the university campus.
In three years we developed a sucessful business, and made a ton of good friends.
One of those friends was just returning from Cayman, where he worked as a bartender for the Hyatt Regentcy Resort.
I was excited about trying my luck abroad, and meeting a new challenge.
So I picked up my things and headed down.
I am now bartending and managing at a fun little Irish Pub on famous Seven Mile Beach.
In the day I scuba dive, and lie on the beach.
In the night I serve drinks to the many tourists and locals of Cayman.
I couldn't ask for a better lifestyle.
However, Christmas just doesn't seem the same without that good old Sault Ste. Marie snow.
So to everyone in the Soo, greetings from Cayman, and here's a little taste of the Carribean.
No snow, but I sure make one hell of a "Sand Man". Derek Nott Box 30312 Grand Cayman, B.W.I. (345) 946-0075 [email protected]
