The International Bridge Authority (IBA) is willing to waive all tolls for the bridge bus if third parties offer to subsidize the money-losing service, General Manager Phillip Becker said today.
"We recognize the importance of this service to the Sault Ste. Marie communities, but the IBA cannot continue to provide more than US$83,000 annually to subsidize the bus operations," Becker said as he announced what SooToday.com disclosed eight days earlier, that the bridge bus will cease operating on or before April 1 of next year.
"IBA remains committed to continuing free passage of the bus across the bridge if additional funding for the operation of the bus can be identified," Becker said today.
