International television networks are today broadcasting new images showing purported American abuse of prisoners in Iraq's Abu Ghraib jail. The images were first broadcast by Australia's SBS TV, and are thought to have been taken in 2003.

They are believed to have come from the same source who provided similar photos that led to an international outcry and the jailing of some U.S. personnel.

Sault Ste. Marie's Jim Loney, who documented atrocities at Abu Ghraib long before the mass media took notice of the story, has been held by Iraqi militants since he and three other members of Christian Peacemaker Teams were kidnapped last November.
