************************* Freestyle Motocross World Tour coming to the Steelback Centre

SAULT STE. MARIE, ON - The Steelback Centre will showcase 13 top international pros from the FMX and BMX pro circuit in the 2007 Hyundai Freestyle Motocross World Tour.

The event will take place on Friday, October 26, 2007, at 8 p.m. at the Steelback Centre.

The FMX World Tour is an extreme sport action competition that was formed to tour Canada, USA, Mexico and select European countries.

Its roots and history have began in the 1990s, pressuring the athletes to go bigger and higher every year.

With household names like Travis Pastrana, the sport has grown to become an international phenomenon!

The tour is a perfect blend of athletic ability and extreme stunt competitions that will have Ontario fans on their feet.

It features some of the top pro riders in the world performing only in eight cities here in Canada.

Pro riders will participate in an intense competition, throwing out some of the most death-defying tricks ever seen.

Superman seat grab, cliff hanger, kiss of death and back flip combinations are just some of the tricks that will be used to fight for the championship title.

Each rider will be jumping their 250cc bikes at an unbelievable 40 feet vertical with a 50-60 foot gap.

Three competitions will take place at the event: dueling duos in which two riders synchronized their stunts in a team effort, a BMX competition and the FMX World Series Competition.

The World Tour competition starts off with a preliminary run and than a semi-final run in order to select the top four pro riders for the big final.

Each rider is given an allocated time to throw out as many extreme tricks which will be judged on composure and difficulty.

The score for each rider is determined by a judge appointing 0-100 points, with 100 being the best possible run.

The scores are added and averaged giving the rider a final score from 0-100 for the run.

The champion will be selected by the highest points in which they will take home the event title and increase their point standing in the overall tour championship.

Back flips are a given at the FMX World Tour giving a full-throttle explosive display.

Watch as high flying FMX and BMX pros compete to be on top.

Competitors for the first time ever will compete for the world title at cities around the globe.

They’ll defy gravity and rock the Steelback Centre through stunts inspired by the same performances that are being showcased in popular TV shows and video games.

All advance ticket purchases will receive a free entry to the pit party from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Fans will get a chance to meet the riders and take the opportunity to take pictures and receive autographs.

Tickets go on sale September 14 at 10 a.m.

Tickets are available at the Steelback Centre box office (Monday to Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays), by phoning 1-866-775-9422 or online.
