US media outlets are reporting today that former Democratic vice-president nominee John Edwards and his wife, Elizabeth, have legally separated.
A source close to Elizabeth Edwards confirmed that the couple separated following John Edwards' admission to fathering a child with a videographer who worked on his campaign.
News of the separation comes just one week before the release of a tell-all book by Andrew Young.
Young was an aide and confidante to John Edwards during the 2004 campaign.
