Former Sault Ste. Marie museum director dies at 62

Kim Forbes served as museum director and curator for 18 years

SooToday received the following note from the Sault Ste. Marie Museum regarding the passing of former museum director and curator Kim Forbes. Friends are invited to attend a celebration of Kim's life on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018 between noon and 3 p.m. at Arthur Funeral Home – Barton and Kiteley Chapel, 492 Wellington St. E.

The message of condolences issued by the museum reads:

The Sault Ste. Marie and 49th Field Regiment R.C.A. Historical Society (Sault Ste. Marie Museum) is greatly saddened by the news of the passing, on Jan. 18, 2018, of former director/curator Mr. Kim Forbes.

Kim was a past director/curator of the Sault Ste. Marie Museum from 1998 to 2016. Kim’s dedication and passion for history helped to ensure the growth and preservation of the Museum’s collection. Kim was an acknowledged expert on Sault Ste. Marie history, as well as an avid genealogist.

The Sault Ste. Marie Museum is grateful for Mr. Forbes’ leadership and 18 years of dedicated service, and offers its sincere condolences to his wife Barbara, family members, and friends.
