Shawn R. Jamison, a former Lake Superior State University (LSSU) adjunct professor, has received a three-to-10-year sentence for defrauding former students.

The Soo Evening News is reporting that the 10 students were defrauded of $98,700 by Jamison, who also served as an LSSU student advisor.

Citing Jamison's relationship with the students as one that put the professor in a position of authority over his victims, Judge Lowell Ulrich's sentence went well above normal sentencing guidelines.

Jamison must also pay restitution and a hefty fine.
