Former employee accused of stealing company truck

HORNEPAYNE - On June 24, 2009, at approximately 8:49 a.m., a report was received of a stolen pickup truck taken from a construction site near Oba, Ontario earlier in the day.

The suspect was believed to be a former employee of the company.

Following an investigation, the vehicle was located in the area being driven by a male driver.

As a result, David Smith, age 47, of Hamner, Ontario was charged with theft over $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

Mr. Smith will appear in Criminal Court at a later date to answer to the charge.

The vehicle was returned to the owner undamaged.

RIDE - Several RIDE checks were conducted throughout the Superior East patrol area with no infractions noted.
