************************* East Fire Region - August 7

Ontario sent 30 four-person fire fighting crews and two agency representatives (122 people) to British Columbia Friday.

These crews will be replacing 122 Ontario fire fighters who have been deployed in B.C. for the last two weeks that are scheduled to return to Ontario tomorrow. Ontario continues to support British Columbia with fire fighting equipment and is in the process of preparing to ship 200 pumping units and 3,000 feet of hose.

The forest fire situation in British Columbia remains a concern.

The fire situation remains quiet for the East Fire Region, there have been no new fires reported in the last 24 hours.

Currently there are no active fires in the region.

There will be localized area of high fire hazard around the Parry Sound area.

Algonquin Parks and south will see a moderate hazard, while the rest of the East Fire Region will remain low.

Heading into the weekend everyone is reminded to take all necessary precautions when working or participating in recreational activities in forested areas.

Be careful with all outdoor fires, including brush fires and campfires.
