As of Monday evening, there are two active forest fires burning in the northeast region.

None of them are in the Algoma district.

Sudbury 5, located near Highway 69, is under control at 13 hectares.

Bancroft 4, located near Highway 7 west of Skootamatta Lake, is being held at 6.6 hectares.

Today’s fire hazard ranges mostly from high to extreme in the southern and central portions of the region, while northern areas are showing a low to moderate hazard.

Around Sault Ste. Marie, the risk is mostly high, moving into the lower threshold north near Wawa.
