Footrace on the beach. Bernard loses it

A homeowner at Highway 17 North Ryan Township was surprised Wednesday at 11 a.m. when he discovered a man attempting to break into his house.

The owner chased the suspect down the beach.

Sault Ste. Marie OPP officers captured the suspect a short time later near the Poplar Grove Motel.

Charged with two counts of break and enter, one for the attempt to break into the house and the second charge for a break and enter into a nearby camper trailer, is Bernard Arthur Hughes, age 47 of 102 Government Road, Keewatin Ontario.

Nothing was taken in the break and enters.
