Food court nostalgia: The Sault is getting a new ManchuWOK

The sign is up and construction is nearly complete at the restaurant’s new location on Great Northern Road, right next to Swiss Chalet

ManchuWOK — once a staple of the Station Mall food court — is days away from returning to Sault Ste. Marie.

Construction is nearly complete at the restaurant’s new location on Great Northern Road, right next to Swiss Chalet, and the website says doors will open to customers on Dec. 15.

The restaurant held a job fair in October, looking for part-time cooks and cashiers.

“No other fast food name is as recognized as ManchuWOK when it comes to offering authentic, best-loved recipes of the east,” said a news release promoting the job fair. “Their ever-evolving menu captures the best of Cantonese, Szechwan, Hunan, and Mandarin regions.”

ManchuWok has approximately 185 locations across North America. It is owned by MTY Group, the franchisor behind brands such as Country Style, Cultures, mmmuffins, Mr. Sub and Pizza Delight.

SooToday reached out last week to MTY Group for more information about the new ManchuWOK. The company has yet to respond.
