SooToday has received word that the Doodle puppy has been found.

Original Story

At approximately 12:30 p.m. today, a five-week-old Doodle puppy was stolen from Sunset Ranch in Echo Bay, Kelly Fremlin told SooToday.

Fremlin – who owns and operates Sunset Ranch Doodles – had the mother and litter of nine puppies outside next to her home in a pen, nowhere near the road, she said. She had just completed some training with the young pups, giving them all a bath before heading inside to conduct a conference call.

When she emerged a short time later, she found the pen upended, and the mother and eight puppies wandering free. A thorough search of the property for the ninth pup came up empty handed. It’s unlikely the puppy would have wandered far from its mother at such a young age, she said.

Fremlin is worried for the young female pup’s health and safety given that she still requires her mother’s milk to supplement her special diet. Exposure to serious viruses such as Parvovirus is also a huge risk, she said, and can be fatal. The puppies are not scheduled to be vaccinated for another few weeks.

Ontario Provincial Police have been notified of the theft, Fremlin told us, and were at the property to investigate.

She said the best chance of someone finding the puppy is that she will be constantly crying for her mother. “She’ll scream for her mother for one or two days and then give up,” Fremlin said. “I just hope she’s in the Sault area and not on her way to Toronto or something like that.”

The puppy was also born with a very unique coat – black with silver phantom – something Fremlin has not seen in the area before.

Anyone with information about the missing Doodle puppy is asked to call Sunset Ranch Doodles at 705-248-2280.
