Five new forest fires in the region, including two in the Sault area

There are five new active forest fires in the region, including a pair in the Sault Ste. Marie area.

Sault Ste. Marie 6, which is located south of Ranger Lake, is currently not under control at 0.1 of a hectare, while Sault Ste. Marie 7 is also not under control at 0.3 of a hectare north of the Goulais River.

The three additional fires in the Northeast Region include:

  • Sudbury 19, which is being held at 1.1 hectare, is north of Trout Lake, southeast of Sudbury.
  • Timmins 1, which not under control at 0.8 of a hectare, is south of Forks and Lower Forks Lake, which is south of Timmins.
  • Timmins 3, not under control at 0.5 of a hectare, is located northwest of Thor Lake, south of Timmins.

The five new fires are in addition to fourth other active fires in the region, which are all currently being held or under control at this point.
