A loyal SooToday.com reader sent us a note this Sunday morning about a remarkably innovative plan just announced by police in Winnipeg.

They're going to release the names of all their accused impaired drivers this holiday season.

Wow.

"The program may be the first of its kind in a major Canadian city," CTV News proclaims this morning. "[I] thought that Sault Ste. Marie has done this for a long time," our reader observes.

Here at SooToday.com, we're almost sure we sat down with Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and the local OPP detachment and reached an agreement to do the same thing in November, 2005.

And we could have sworn we've been doing it ever since.

Sorry, must be our memory.

Impaired drivers are never, ever named on SooToday.com

We regret the error.
