Firefighters continue to battle cold, fire on Queen Street East (24 photos)

At least two buildings affected

Firefighters continue to battle flames and frigid temperatures this morning as they pour water on a fire that has now been burning for hours in the 200 block of Queen Street East.

Several fire trucks from each station have responded to the scene, the source of a massive cloud of brown smoke that has enveloped part of the city's downtown.

Fire Chief Peter Johnson told SooToday no fatalities or injuries have been reported. It was not necessary to evacuate the buildings. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

The blaze affects two business. The fire is believed to have started at the rear of the buildings and moved forward.
