Fire Services attend incident on Second Line East (4 photos, updated)

Gas leak not confirmed, no injuries reported.

Update:

Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services have confirmed that they responded to an ammonia leak around 11 a.m.

In a press release issued this afternoon, fire services confirmed that the immediate area was evacuated, the leak was contained, and EMS was on scene as a precautionary measure.

No injuries have been reported and the scene was released at 2:00 p.m.

Three Sault Fire Services trucks and two Sault EMS ambulances were on scene in the 500 block of Second Line E. early Thursday afternoon.

The scene was barricaded with yellow tape.

Sault Fire Services could not confirm if there was a gas leak in the industrial area.

There were no injuries reported, with no need for anyone to be taken to hospital, said Paul Milosevich, Sault Fire Services deputy chief.
