The Fire Marshal was on the scene yesterday at 61 Ashgrove Avenue to investigate a fire and a mortality. Few details are known at this time. The deceased is male. Police are not considering his death suspicious.

The Fire Marshal was on the scene yesterday at 61 Ashgrove Avenue to investigate a fire and a mortality.

Few details are known at this time.

The deceased is male.

Police are not considering his death suspicious.

The investigation is now in the hands of the Fire Marshal and Coroner's offices.

A media release from Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services follows:

****************************** Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the 100 block of Ashgrove Ave. Friday Aug. 26 at approximately 2 p.m.

Upon arrival, fire crews discovered the body of a 41-year-old male who was vital signs absent (VSA).

The fire was confined to the detached garage and is currently under investigation by the Ontario Fire Marshals Office and Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services to determine origin and cause.

The fire is not considered suspicious.

The name of the deceased will not be released, pending notification of next of kin.
