A year-round residence was destroyed by fire yesterday in Goulais River.

The fire, caught on digital camera by a SooToday.com reader, occurred on Haviland Shores Drive, four or five miles northwest of the Haviland Trading Post.

Police are saying little about the blaze, except that one person was inside when the fire started.

That person got out and was located at a neighbour's residence, from which he was taken to Sault Area Hospital to be treated for injuries that were believed to be not life-threatening.

When bystanders arrived at the scene before firefighters, they found a vehicle in the driveway with its engine running.

The vehicle was driven away from the burning house by one of the bystanders.

One witness told SooToday.com that he saw several propane tanks explode as the fire swept through the single-storey structure.

The fire started shortly before noon yesterday.
