Fire damages vehicle, garage at Leighs Bay Road home (3 photos)

Cause of fire under investigation; no injuries reported

Sault Fire Services were called to the scene of a fire at a detached, three vehicle garage at a residence in the 800 block of Leighs Bay Road, just south of Second Line, late Saturday afternoon.

Stan Martynuck, Sault Fire Services platoon chief, told SooToday the cause of the fire is under investigation, but it appears it began in a vehicle inside the garage.

The vehicle was extensively damaged, with smoke and fire damage done to the garage.

The garage and adjacent home were unoccupied at the time of the fire, Martynuck said.

The fire was called in through several 9-1-1 calls from neighbours beginning at  5:36 p.m., Martynuck said. 

The fire was under control shorlty after 6 p.m.

Three engines, a tanker and platoon chief vehicle were at the scene.
