**************************** Fifteen new fires were reported in Ontario on August 26.

The majority of the fires were lightning caused and occurred in Kenora (5), Fort Frances (3), Thunder Bay (2), Red Lake (2), Dryden (1), Sudbury (1) and Chapleau (1) districts.

These fires burned a total of 3.8 hectares and no further issues are anticipated with these new fires.

These areas will continue to pick up fires from recent lightning activity over the next several days. There are 86 active fires currently burning in the province.

Fire teams continue with monitoring and suppression of ongoing fires.

Fire behavior on large fires is expected to remain low to moderate over the next several days.

Recycle of personnel and equipment continues across the province on fire and headquarter complexes.

A total of 172 out of province staff are still assisting in Ontario.

Two fires were reported on August 26.

- Chapleau 13 - human caused - out - 0.1 hectares - north of Ramsey

- Sudbury 82 - undetermined cause - under control - 1.6 hectares - north of Lumsden Road

One new fire was reported by the evening of August 27.

- Sudbury 83 - undetermined cause - not under control - 0.1 hectares - south of Vermillion Lake

There are an additional nine active fires in the region.

This is a cluster of fires located in Cochrane district, lightning caused, and are being observed around the border of James Bay.
