The Sault Ste Marie Police wish to thank the public for their assistance in helping to prevent impaired driving.

Throughout the Month of December 2013, the Sault Ste Marie Police conducted Festive Season RIDE checks at numerous locations throughout the City and Prince Township.

As a result, 2621 vehicles were checked, one 90 day suspension was issued, four traffic tickets for various Highway Traffic Act infractions were issued, and one person was charged with being over the legal limit.

It is notable that throughout this same period eight additional impaired driving related incidents resulted in charges being laid.

These incidents were as a result of motor vehicle collisions as well as calls from the public reporting possible incidents of impaired drivers.

The Sault Ste Marie Police wish to thank the public for assisting us in preventing impaired driving within our community.

This assistance may be by arranging a ride, giving a ride, calling a cab, or calling the police about an impaired driver, however it all helps us reach our goal of ensuring safe roads and reducing impaired driving.
