ELLIOT LAKE - On July 5, 2016, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on regular patrol duties in the City of Elliot Lake. 

Police observed a male and female at a local restaurant. The female was on probation to have no contact with the male she was with.

Police arrested the female. As she was searched, police located a small amount of prescription drugs in pill form which she did not have a script for.

As a result, a 29-year-old female from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code; and

  • Possession of Schedule Substance – Other Drugs, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on July 6, 2016.
