************************* Collision near Cochrane claims three lives

COCHRANE, ON - On Friday, July 2, 2010, at 7:05 p.m., members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a two vehicle head-on collision in Calder Township on Highway 11, approximately 20 kilometres west of Cochrane.

An 81-year-old woman driving a pick-up truck crossed the center line colliding with a minivan killing the 63-year-old male driver and his 56-year-old spouse.

The couple’s 19-year-old daughter remains in hospital with serious injuries but is expected to recover.

Pronounced dead at the scene were Cochrane, Ontario residents – Angelo Anselmo A and his wife Meredith Anselmo.

Pronounced dead at the Lady Minto Hospital in Cochrane was Driftwood, Ontario resident Dorothy McDonald.

The Ontario Provincial Police reports that seven people lost their lives in five separate fatal crashes this weekend on Northeastern Ontario highways.

All of these collisions were preventable.

We would like to remind motorists to pay due care and attention while operating a motor vehicle, always wear seat belts, report aggressive driving occurrences and above all drive sober.
