Run, walk or wheel right down the middle of Queen Street on July 21

SAULT STE. MARIE, ON ( July 9, 2012) – Runners, walkers, joggers, wheelers and assisted-wheelers of all ages are invited to participate in the third ROTARYFEST Miracle Mile immediately before the 90th anniversary Rotary Community Day Parade on Saturday, July 21, 2012.

Last year, 150 entrants completed the course in front of 10,000 onlookers lining the parade route.

Presented by RBC Royal Bank, this family-oriented fun event will again include the St. Louis Blues’ Matt D’Agostini as celebrity marshal. He will be available for autographs after all participants have finished.

Setting out at 10:45 a.m. from the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre, ROTARYFEST Miracle Milers will go up Pim Street and then turn left onto Queen Street en route to the finish line at the Essar Centre.

Proceeds from the event help support physically challenged youth in the city and area. This year’s entry fee is $15 per person.

More information about the ROTARYFEST Miracle Mile and online registration details are available here, by calling 705-945-1279 or by visiting the Rotary office at 364 Queen Street East.

Registration can also be done by mailing a completed registration form (downloaded from the website) to the Rotary office or at Athlete’s Foot until 5 p.m. on July 20.

Late registrations will be processed on Friday, July 20 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Delta Waterfront Hotel lobby, and on Saturday, July 21 between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. at the Bushplane Centre.

The ROTARYFEST Miracle Mile website also includes fundraising forms, prize information and other details.

“Individuals, families, youth sports teams and other groups involving young people have all contributed to the growing success of the ROTARYFEST Miracle Mile,” said Co-chair Lynn Hollingsworth. “This event allows teams and groups to fundraise for their own needs while also  contributing to the betterment of the community. All monies raised by teams are divided equally between them and those who benefit from money raised through the ROTARYFEST Miracle Mile.”
