************************* Forest Fire Situation Update - East Fire Region

There have been no new fires reported in the East Fire Region for June 23.

There were two new fires confirmed in the East Fire Region for June 22.

North Bay 16, and Wawa 13 were both 0.1 hectares in size, and both fires have been called out.

Also on June 22, 148 fire personnel returned to Ontario from British Columbia, while 96 staff will remain in Alberta.

Two water bombers sent to Fort McMurray, Alberta returned to Dryden, Ontario Sunday June 21 while crews sent to Alberta remain on duty there.

Currently there are six active fires in the region.

Cochrane district has four active fires, and Timmins, and Wawa districts have one each. The fire hazard within the East Fire Region is forecasted to be high to moderate for the majority of the region, with pockets of extreme in the Sudbury area, and north White River running northeast up to Hearst.

With the warm weather upon us it is time to enjoy the outdoors.
